I still cannot find any pics of the chalets --- this old card seems to show bathing machines near where the chalets are now, being where the Royal Crescent steps are.
The first road along the base of the base of the East Cliff. In the 19th century it was a popular promenade, especially for invalids. It was known as Madeira Road until the First World War.
